Youth involvement
YIPs
The Youth Involvement Program helps members aged 14-18 stay connected, build skills and contribute across club life.
Rewarding participation
Retention of members aged 14-18 can be difficult for lifesaving clubs across Victoria. The Youth Involvement Program helps develop, engage and keep young members connected to the club.
Over recent seasons, many young Victorians have started their involvement in YIPs. In simple terms, the program rewards the good work young members already do at their club.
YIPs rewards the good work young members already do. Points can be earned through patrols, water safety, organising club functions, mentoring, training and assessment.
- Once enrolled, participants can progress through bronze, silver and gold levels of the program.
- Each level requires a basic number of points and is recognised with achievement of that level.
- Opportunities include surf lifesaving, skill development, competition, administration and junior, youth and club activities.
- Activities can include beach clean ups, fundraising, movie nights, tin rattling and club support.
- The current club page lists movie nights and tin rattling as YIPs fundraising activities, with more activities to come.
